💭 We thought we'd give you the low down about what it is, how it works and if you can benefit from having some. 💉 Medical acupuncture is a therapeutic modality involving the insertion of fine needles into soft tissue structures. Sometimes known as dry needling, it is an adaptation of traditional/Chinese acupuncture, that focuses on muscular anatomy, rather than energy lines or meridians. 🔍 The aim of medical acupuncture, as with most therapeutic treatment, is to encourage healing and pain relief. ❓ So how does it work? In short... the insertion of the needle into the soft tissue ⬆️ increases the stimulation of blood flow to the area. Which in turn, ⬇️ decreases pain, ⬇️ tightness and tenderness and results in relaxation of the structure 💪
